My mom used to brag that when I was six years old and people asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would respond “a famous writer for The New York Times!” I never did make it to New York City but I have always had a passion for the power of words.

Since deciding to work full-time in nonprofit communications and committing to the workload that comes with that, I have lost touch with my creative side but always knew that one day I would pick it up again, when the time was right. What I am learning is that the time is never right. Time, in itself, is not guaranteed - a lesson I learned in April 2019 when my mom, my best friend and biggest advocate, was taken away from me, my family, and this earth, so very abruptly.

As I continue to grieve this insurmountable loss, I am determined to honor the incredible legacy of my mother through my writing.

This is all for you, Mom. Love you infinity.
